Mind Body & Soul Ezine Book Review: The Marian Conspiracy - The hidden truth about the Holy Grail, the real father of Christ, and the Tomb of the Virgin Mary by Graham Phillips.
Ex BBC presenter, lecturer and magazine editor, Graham Phillips, is also a researcher and author of over a dozen books that find answers to mysteries, including ‘Act of God’ and ‘The Search for the Grail’. He was given access to the Vatican Archives to write this book. It exposes the many myths about the tomb of Mary the Virgin, her early life, the life of Jesus, the dates of the gospels, etc. At the end of every chapter in a useful condensed summary. The author takes each part of the New Testament, historical records which may or may not be accurate or true, and finds whether there is any evidence. Much of the material is not new but based on exposing inaccuracies possible within the accepted truths of biblical lore.
However, the Schreiber theory that Jesus was the son of Prince Antipater is given, with the vicious tyrant king, Herod, his father, and the grandfather of Jesus! Marianne (the Greek version of the name Mary) was Antipater’s wife. Mary was of the line of David, thereby showing her very high status. Was the Anna mentioned in the gospels her mother, described as an elderly prophetess, daughter of Phanuel, of the Aser tribe, who recognised Jesus as the messiah. Many princes married Temple priests’ daughters and Mary’s father was said to be a high priest of the Jerusalem Temple. Mary’s cousin Elizabeth had a high priest as her husband, Zacharias. An interesting historical passage follows about a causations about Antipater, Mary’s escape under the protection of Joseph, to hide in Bethlehem until the heir, Jesus was born. Were the wise men Essenes from Qumran?
Who was the disciple that Jesus loved and did Mary ever go to Ephesus? Who was Joseph of Arimathea? , All discussed. A colleague takes the author on a tour of the major places in the Holy Land - conversations are detailed. Mary’s assumption into heaven was disputed as church dogma, so yes, she would have been buried somewhere and the orthodox churches own her proposed burial site at Jehosaphat or at Ephesus where ruins of a Marian shrine remains. Does the tarot reflect the story of the search for the grail?
