Silver Witchcraft Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card a deck Review: Silver Witchcraft Tarot by Barbara Moore, artwork by Franco Rivolli. Published by Lo Scarabeo.

Each major Silver Witchcraft card has a definition and keywords. The images are highly individualised Anne add to a reading. Milestones, turning points, lessons and warnings of events to come that are outside our control.  Insight and understanding of our situation is what we seek in the Tarot card reading. This deck provides bridges and connections, and like RWS can be used for divination or meditation. I like Barbara Moore! Intellectual and down to earth.

Card decks also by Barbara Moore: Steampunk Tarot, Mystical Manga Tarot and Triple GoddessTarot.

This deck is profiled in  the Total Tarot course collection in magazine numbers 42 and 43.

Earth Wisdom Oracle

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Earth Wisdom Oracle Cards by Barbara Moore and Cristina Scagliotti, 32 cards published by Lo Scarabeo (Llewellyn) with multi lingual information booklet, £14.99

These cards have a Celtic and Irish influence which honours the Earth, landscapes, spirits of plants, stones, water, and other species who share their wisdom for our readings. Ask a question in the here and now, not for the future. For self use, one card at a time, you should get the greatest sense of each card before choosing another one. Imagine you are in the setting of the card image. Meditate on the scenery around you, and when you feel connected, ask your questions and listen for responses. A delightful deck!
Nature and ecology are becoming a part of the spiritual path and this Oracle connects with ecology and gentle, positive healing energies.

Fairy Oracle

Mind Body & Soul Card Deck Review: Fairy Oracle with text by Jaymi Elford and artwork by Victorian artist, Arthur Rackham. 36 cards and booklet in several languages, published by Lo Scarabeo, £15.99

Aka 'Oracle of the Good Folk', these cards are positive with a little hint of mischief. The artwork, as one would expect from specialist Victorian fairy illustrator, Arthur Rackham, is delightful and totally believable. They were produced at a time when fairies were extremely popular in children's fairy tale books, such as Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. From his pen, ink and watercolour illustrations of fairies, sections have been taken to showcase on the cards for insight and creativity.

The text by Jaymi Elford accompanies each individual artwork and is both useful and pertinent. Ask a question for a One card, Two cards or Four cards reading. The card faces offer an image which invites dialogue. In the multi lingual booklet, a title for each card is given with approx 40 word description of the image plus approx 40 word meaning. Sheer magic! Enjoy and deliver your best ever readings!

Fairy Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Fairy Tarot by Antonio Lupatelli Published by Lo Scarabeo 1997 UK £15
Please note: There is another Tarot deck with a similar title ‘Fairy Tarot Cards’ published by Hay House.

Other decks exist with this title, so make sure you get this one, it's such a joy! These are based on the Rider-Waite deck and feature the fairy traditions of pixies, gnomes, etc. This, by Italian Antonio Lupatelli is whimsical with non standard hearts, leaves, bells and acorns. The Elf is the Fool, The Dryad is Justice, The Oread is the Wheel of Fortune, etc. Strength and Justice are reversed.

Antonio Lupatelli, a children’s book illustrator, was known as Tony Wolf and produced several card decks, such as Tarot of the Gnomes, and Tarot of the Druids. Elements are: Bells - Pentacles; Leaves - Swords; Acorns - Wands; Hearts - Cups. There is a little bit of nudity to spice up the reading. Court cards are: Knave, Knight, Queen, King.

Enjoyable! I like a deck that has fairy energies to draw on. Of course, it can be used as a normal Tarot. The Elf for The Fool, The Dryad for Justice, The Oread for The Wheel of Fortune, The Troll for the devil are some name changes. It has been around for 20 years, but doesn’t go out of date. Fairies never do!

The Fey Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: The Fey Tarot by by Riccardo Minetti and Artist, Mara Aghem Published by Lo Scarabeo.

This is a fairy style tarot deck, where the enchantments of nature and human life meet. It is based on Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot but bring new creativity and meanings to the readings. The Major Arcana card of Death is depicted as a young fairy sitting with a chess board, looking straight at the reader because the White King is surrounded by Black Pawns. The White Pawn represents Hope is some distance away but behind her is the egg, symbol of rebirth. There is lots of action in these cards, with suggestions of what is happening to the Querent and possibilities for outcomes.

I Ching Cards

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: I Ching Oracle Cards by Lunaea Weatherstone, published by Lo Scarabeo, 64 cards with multi lingual instruction booklet. £15.99

Lunaea Weatherstone has exceptional credentials - she is a Pagan Priestess and ex-owner of Sage Woman Magazine, author of Tending Brigid's Flame and a contributor to several books and card decks.
You can sense the power of these cards when you see the fabulously gold embossed black card box. It looks classy and speaks of luxury. This deck is well produced and excellent value! The I Ching, also know as The Book of Changes, is a Chinese philosophical system, one of the oldest books of philosophy in the world and thought to be over 4,000 years old. Originally, the oracle was divined with yarrow sticks, coins or stones, but these cards make a suitable and easy way of working.

After Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: After Tarot published by Lo Scarabeo

“The river of time is constantly flowing.”

The images of the traditional Tarot card deck, the Rider-Waite-Smith (Radiant Wise Tarot) are taken forward in time, and After Tarot images are what happens next. We have new characters with new situations, the artwork all in keeping with the original deck. Some examples, originally Fool walks near a cliff edge, in the After Tarot, he is hanging by his fingertips on the ledge, Hermit has a dog, Star bathes naked in the water, a woman appears in Moon card, Hanged Man has a female helper, Temperance has a dove, and there are similar alterations to the Minor Arcana.

I enjoyed working with After Tarot. It fleshed out my readings and gives new inspiration!

The Sorcerers Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: The Sorcerers Tarot by Antonella Castelli by Lo Scarabeo 2005

Good an evil are in an eternal battle! We must get the best from our reading and from our life. Neither positive nor negative magic equates to the soul of the querent. The reader encourages the querent to take responsibility for their life and to be courageous, wise and aware. Information in the cards can be good or bad as we make it. The magic enables us to build our own destiny. Willpower, intention, determination, and ability, these create the magic in your life! Magic deals with the human soul, it exists to transform the person spiritually, though we all want circumstances to be changed, this needs to happen by a change in ourselves - our actions reflect our character and spiritual qualities. Everything is related, all circumstances come together to create a whole - just one decision can have a knock on effect.

Medieval Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Card Deck Review: Medieval Tarot by Guido Ziborde Marchesi, pack of 78 cards by Lo Scarabeo in the Total Tarot Course Collection, numbers 50 and 51

The beauty of medieval fine art and computer graphics takes us back to the Middle Ages when moral virtues and spiritual qualities, sensitivity, deep perceptions, the nobles of the royal court, clergy, courtiers, battles, Crusaders, theological and philosophical discussions are all present alongside daily lives and beliefs.

This is a classic deck, created in 2005, but a fascinating deck to provide new perspectives. Guido Ziborde Marchesi has produced a masterful deck. He also produced The Giotto Tarot. Beautiful images. You can get some rather wonderful readings from this deck.

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Universal Goddess Tarot by Maria Caratti, Antonella Platano, published by Lo Scarabeo. 5 inches by 3 inches card size. £22.95

This card is 'Angerona' Goddess of the Winter Solstice and represents 'silence' - the mother who never asks questions but welcomes you into her benevolent arms when you are tired or uncertain. This is a delightful deck, the paintings are of highest quality and are convincing as deities. The information in the insert is adequate and concise. This card on the right is the card of Justice, here numbered VIII. She is the Egyptian Goddess of Truth and Justice and she speaks to us directly. Do you hear her voice say with great power and authority: "Bow down before me, for I am Ma'at, the Goddess of Truth, Justice and Order. Egyptian Tarot Review

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck a review: Egyptian Tarot by Silvana Alasia Published by Lo Scarabeo  1996. €25 : £22 card size : 120mm x 66mm.

Based on Marseilles Tarot coupled with the enigmatic magic of ancient Egyptian inspired art by Otto Wegener and the art of French esotericist, Jean Baptiste Pitois aka Paul Christian (1811-1877), who told a story of having been given a manuscript by a Benedictine monk. During an ‘initiation’ in Egypt, he imagined the Tarot trumps which were created into cards in 1896 by Wegener.

Rods, Owls, Seords and Pentacles are the four suits. Each card has an interesting and meaningful image by Silvana Alasia who painted using tempera on papyrus. She also created the Tarot of Nefertiti, and the Tarot of Cleopatra.

There are other decks of this title. This deck is by Silvana Alesia and pubished by Lo Scarabeo. It is  also featured in the Total Tarot Course, magazines 26 and 27 Visit: https://totaltarotcollection.com

Tarot of the Mermaids

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Tarot of the Mermaids by Mauro De Luca and Pietro Alligo. Pack of 78 cards and little white booklet. Published by Lo Scarabeo. RRP £25

The original story of these wild and animalistic sea creatures is very ancient. In Babylonian times, the fish tailed deity, Oannes, lived in the sea during the night and came to land to teach writing, arts and sciences during the day. In Greek myths, mermaids were the children of the muse of tragedy and a shapeshifter. They were friends with Persephone when she was kidnapped by Hades and taken to the underworld and the gods bestowed wings on the mermaids who were half women and half bird, each a mystery with double value, could make you drunk with pleasure or cause untold pain. They inhabited an island between Scylla and the home of the magician Circe. Seafarers wrecked their boats when they heard the mermaids sing. Ulysses plugged the sailors ears with wax and had himself tied to the ships mast when passing this island. Debra Khan was a Persian merman who gave false commands to helmsmen  during storms. During the Middle Ages, mermaids were long haired and naked sirens/seductresses, and were symbols of lust, and their sweet song supports the harmony of the stars.

Lo Scarabeo Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: 'Lo Scarabeo Tarot - The art of divining begins a new chapter' by Mark McElroy with artwork by Anna Lazzarini and published by Lo Scarabeo £17.99

Lo Scarabeo is my favourite card deck publisher. 20 years old this year! These are slim-line cards 4.70" x 2.60". If someone has only one deck, this Lo Scarabeo is the one to have! It is a combination, a fusion of three premier tarot decks: The Rider-Waite-Smith, the Thoth, and the Tarot de Marseilles, and it is introduced by Lo Scarabeo as a "flagship" deck. It can be used for reflection and study or as a divination deck and the traditional meanings apply. It offers a flexible approach to divination suggesting the use of intuition though a good tarot book will be necessary for beginners as contained in the pack with the 78 cards is a little white instruction leaflet that gives just the card titles and two keywords, one for upright readings and one for reversed readings. A sample reading of the suggested 9 card 'Lo Scarabeo' spread is provided.

Marseilles Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Marseilles Tarot published by Lo Scarabeo.

This deck is included in the Total Tarot Course, in magazine numbers 8 and 9 providing The Marseilles Mystery Spread in issue 8.

The Marseilles deck provides the template for our well known recent decks having originated in Renaissance Italy and moved to Marseilles in France. Soldiers from Milan are thought to have travelled with the deck as playing cards when images were engraved on wood for printing, hence the lined images.  Their use for divination is much later.

22 Major Arcana illustrated cards and 56 Minor Arcana unillustrated (pip) cards comprise this 78 card deck. Odd numbered cards are active and masculine and even numbered cards are reflective and feminine. Numbering, suits of cups, pentacles, wands and swords, eight major colours, and images have special meaning.

Pagan Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Pagan Tarot. By Gina M Pace. Published by Lo Scarabeo

Created in 2004 by an American Wiccan priestess, the modern Wiccan style deck is for balance in spiritual and material worlds, remember this in your readings with this deck, and that it is designed for pagans too. Though we might have specific beliefs, the real nitty gritty is leading a functional daily life. We need personal fulfilment, get our needs met, have aspirations, financial and health concerns, and we also focus on developing good relationships. The balance is in achieving many aspects of our lives without excess and with ease.
