Pagan Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Pagan Tarot. By Gina M Pace. Published by Lo Scarabeo

Created in 2004 by an American Wiccan priestess, the modern Wiccan style deck is for balance in spiritual and material worlds, remember this in your readings with this deck, and that it is designed for pagans too. Though we might have specific beliefs, the real nitty gritty is leading a functional daily life. We need personal fulfilment, get our needs met, have aspirations, financial and health concerns, and we also focus on developing good relationships. The balance is in achieving many aspects of our lives without excess and with ease.

The deck tells a story of a priestess who embarks on a life journey of spiritual growth and finds herself faced with many problems. She deals with these problems with wisdom and equanimity. For instance, the Major card of Strength shows how violence is avoided and harmony with nature is sought. The Court Cards are the Elemental, the Novice, the Initiate and the Elder. The suits are divided into male and female; male for swords and wands, female for chalices and Pentacles. The backs show a pentacle so it is easy to see which cards are laid in reverse. Upright, the single point is at the top, reversed, the two points are at the top. A contemporary deck that is easy to identify with.

Magazine numbers 55 and 56 of the Total Tarot Collection carries this deck.
