Da Vinci Tarot

Da Vinci Tarot Artwork by Iassen Ghiuselev and Atanas Atanasov and the text of the little white booklet included in the pack by Mark McElroy. Published by Lo Scarabeo. The basis of the 78 images in this deck are the artworks of Leonardo da Vinci which have soft muted and sepia tinted tones. Computer graphics have been added to Leonardo's artwork to create this tarot deck but I enjoyed the cards and was transported back in time to Renaissance Italy. As Leonardo might have met Ludovico de Sforza who commissioned the earliest tarot decks of his time, maybe there was a consideration of the tarot in Leonardo's mind.

This is a worthy subject. Though being a good listener sounds like an easy task, the art requires considerable training. Listening is a powerful method of caring and supporting someone who is in need of quality time and attention. When a person feels that another person has understood their pain, loss or unhappiness, they are often able to let go of the past and move on, with greater hope and trust.

A Better World is Possible

Bruce Nixon writes: We are in a situation we have never been in before – an environmental crisis that threatens our very existence. Essentially, it results from our failure to live in harmony with the earth on which all life depends and each other. With another global economic crisis now unfolding, it is frightening.

"It is a time of breakdown but the good news is that breakdowns lead to breakthroughs. We have survived thorough history by learning and adapting. Human beings are enormously creative. We are capable of rapid mobilisation, as World War 2 showed. "The trouble is that political and corporate leaders appear wedded to ideologies that have not worked and they don’t see that whole system change is needed. Continuous growth defies common sense when we’re already consuming 30% more than the earth can provide and population may rise from 7bn to 10bn by the end of the century. They also think short term and fight with each other rather than collaborating.

Mystical Kipper

The Mystical Kipper is a very elegant deck of 36 fortune telling cards, created by Regula Elizabeth Fiechter and the artist, Urban Trosch, and published by the card deck specialist, AGM Urania.

Smaller than traditional card size but true to the size of the original cards, these Kipper cards depict scenes from a by-gone era. The origin of the cards is lost in the midst of time, perhaps the cards were named after Berliner, Mrs Susanne Kipper, who lived at least one hundred years ago, or perhaps they were used by the Wipper travellers. Whatever their origin, a period of wealth and beauty around the turn of the 19th/20th century is reflected in the artwork and in military, legal and agricultural matters. The cards are mainly figurative.

Mystical Lenormand Review

This video explains how to read the Mystical Lenormand deck. Quality German tarot and oracle card publisher, AGM Urania has produced this inspired oracle card deck, designed by the medium, Regula Elizabeth Fiechter with artwork by the skilled, Urban Trosch. Both creators are experienced card specialists. In addition to the Mystical Lenormand, Fiechter has created the Mystical Kipper cards (and others), and Trosch has also provided very competent artwork for the Mystical Kipper (and others).

Tibetan Shamanism

Circle Network book review: Tibetan Shamanism - Ecstasy and Healing by Larry Peters PhD published by North Atlantic Books. Paperback 208 pages £15.24 Kindle £11.39 Author website: www.tibetanshaman.com

I recommend this as reading for anyone who has a serious interest in shamanism in general whether they be a beginner or not.
Larry Peters has been awarded many academic accolades for his work with indigenous peoples and is the world authority on the Tamang Nepal tradition with twenty years of dedicated study and research, in addition to being an initiated practitioner. He has worked with indigenous Shamans in Nepal, Mongolia, Siberia and China and in this book he presents new and interesting perspectives on the last four indigenous Tibetan Shamans who lived in exile in Nepal. They are no longer alive so the information gathered by Dr Peters is beyond price to posterity. The indigenous Shamans from Tibet were cruelly victimised even unto death by oppressive Buddhist regimes of the past but survived as a respected tradition in outlying areas. As Buddhism has been the religion of the area for over a thouand years, shamanism has incorporated many aspects of the dominant culture.

Dreams of Gaia

Circle Network card deck review: Dreams of Gaia by Ravynne Phelan. Boxed set of 85 high quality gold leaf edged cards and a guidebook. Published by Blue Angel Publishing £23.00
To Seek, to Feel, to Grow, to Heal!

The deck is designed for self awareness communication with the 'Divine Gaia', the Great Spirit of the natural world. As you work with the cards, do not expect a yes or no answer as there are no definitive answers in life! This deck focuses on learning about yourself and about life itself, and when the cards speak, they provide options and possible solutions. Keeping a journal is suggested for best results.

Each card has an image, a title and a number and greater explanation from the excellent book provides key phrases, meanings, past present and future for the Major cards and a 'potential blockage' which is the term used for an in depth reversed reading for that particular card. The deck is structured beyond the normal tarot deck for more advanced readings. There are 12 minor cards plus Queen and King. A number of card spreads are suggested. The Guide of 3 cards; the Dreamer's if 9 cards; The Dreaming Tree of 12 cards.

Oracle Reading for October

The first card is from Shining Woman Tarot by Rachel Pollack and is Five of Rivers - traditionally the 5 of Cups. The design shows a Native American earthenware image dated to around a thousand years ago. This card teaches us about change, so we flow with the ups and downs of life, adapting, growing, developing and changing. Here we have acceptance of what is, because no situation remains the same for ever. 'This too shall pass!'

Mystical Lenormand

Quality German tarot and oracle card publisher, AGM Urania, has published the "Mystical Lenormand", an inspired oracle card deck, designed by the medium, Regula Elizabeth Fiechter, with artwork by the skilled, Urban Trosch. Both creators are experienced card specialists. Fiechter created the Mystical Lenormand and Trosch has provided very competent artwork.

These cards feature 36 images which have their origins in fortune telling cards which were first produced circa 1800 and were used by the famous Parisienne card reader, Marie Anne Adelaide Lenormand, known as The Sybil of Paris. She read the fortunes for Empress Josephine, Czar Alexander, Robespierre and Marat and others of the French Court, and now cards, based on her deck, are extremely popular. The ‘Mystical Lenormand’ cards have an antique French flavour; they are stylish, meaningful and well-conceived.

The Virgin and the Pentacle

The Virgin and the Pentacle – The Freemasonic Plot to Destroy the Church by Alan Butler, published by O Books, paperback 192 pages £12.99

This book opens with describing the vision of the Madonna at La Salette, France, on 19th September 1846 when two illiterate children (a 14 year old girl and an eleven year old boy) delivered to the church authorities a message of great criticism. The date was strategic as it was the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows (which takes place in the sun sign of Virgo, that of the Virgin). On this date, the planets were aligned in such a way as to be very extraordinary and the place also was very interesting. There are ancient lines throughout France known as ‘salt lines’ often ending in ‘al’ or ‘hal’ meaning ‘salt’. La Salette is on one of these ancient lines. It is stated that when many of the Knights Templar escaped when their order was persecuted, they arrived in Switzerland, Portugal, Scotland and perhaps America, and taking with them their secrets, such as the honouring of Mary as a symbol of Isis, the ancient goddess. The KT had connections to the great Cistercian abbeys, created by St Bernard and possibly they had connections to the Essene Brotherhood which were thought to have influenced Jesus and John the Baptist.

TAROT ILLUMINATI card deck review

Circle Network Review: Tarot Illuminati – The Light Within by Erik C Dunne, published by Lo Scarabeo

The artwork is extremely ornate and very elegant and includes some interesting symbolism with strong archetypal energies. This is certainly the most stylish and glamourous deck I’ve seen and for those who like to meditate on tarot cards, the images invite you to step within and experience the profound and magical landscape. I especially like the colouring. Working with the cards, I found them the most inspirational of the card decks I have in my extensive collection. I found that when I used large spreads I felt quite mind-blown due to the degree of power which is generated from these cards.

The pack has 78 full picture cards and a little white booklet with very brief information by Kim Huggens as per Anthony David Stevens about the major and minor arcana and the court cards. The scards are slimline for easy shuffling.

I recommend for the depth required for this deck, a 430 page book which is available in a kit: ‘The Complete Guide to  Tarot Illuminati’ which is essential for those who would like to get the best from this outstanding deck.
The information in the lwb insertion in this standard pack is in English and 5 other languages, Italian, Spanish, French, Dutch and Portuguese.
The 4 suits are influenced by a different culture,
Wands are Persian, set in hot deserts with views across vast oceans of discovery and the sun blazing down from above;
Pentacles are Oriental with an emphasis on fortune, prosperity, family and duty.
Swords are from Elizabethan England (though I thought also a strong flavour of High Renaissance of the French Court) with cold sweeping mountains, craggy beaches and cloudy skies.
Cups are a fantasy culture filled with beautiful beings that seem otherworldly, set in an environment of waterfalls, glittering oceans, fountains, lakes and rivers.
The court cards of each suit are Princess, Prince, Queen and King and there is astrological and numerical as well as tarot symbolism. The card usually titled ‘Magician’ is titled ‘Alchemist’. A 3 card ‘Sun, Moon and Stars’ spread is suggested so I have chosen this for my readers.

My 3 Card ‘Sun, Moon and Stars’ reading for you from the insert is as follows:

Card 1: The outward appearance or manifestation of the situation; how the world sees it; the action that it causes (Or: The Present) 6 of Pentacles – The Success of the Philanthropist
Card 2: The inward manifestation of the situation; how it makes you feel; the effects it has on you as a person (Or: The Past) 4 of Swords – The Oracle of the Fertile Mind
Card 3: The way you can make the situation work for you (Or: The Future) The Wheel of Fortune – the Riddle of Constant Change. Riddles and Gambling; ups and downs; emotional roller-coaster; uncertainty; change.

If you, like me, tire of decks fairly quickly, I think you will find this deck holds your attention because there is so much within the imagery. I took a jeweller's eye-glass to the cards and was amazed by the detail and quality of the reproductions. A great deal of thought and work has gone into the production.

Please note: The word ‘illuminati’ is a Latin word meaning ‘enlightened’ and the deck has no association with any sect, cult or occult organisation commonly known as the ‘Illuminati’.  `
