Scotia Book Review

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Book Review: Scotia - Lost Sister of Tutankhamun by Luke Eastwood.

This is a story, or many stories, connecting the life is an Egyptian princess, the eldest child of the extraordinary heretic Pharaoh Akhenaten and his adored and beautiful royal wife Nefertiti. Her name is Meritaten, the date is 1356 BC but she is known as Scotia or Scota, by which the land of Scotland is named!

How did this come to be! After the collapse of the Armana kingdom, the great new royal palace and temple precincts of Akhataten, there was chaos, disease, fear and calamity. Meritaten was likely married to her half brothers, Smenkare, and Tutankhamen, maybe even Tutanhkamun’s successor Horemheb. She finds herself alone and in danger after her father’s death. She writes to local kings, probably Phoenicians and Hittites, those who have access to help her escape her beloved country, Egypt. Given help, she travels the Mediterranean to Spain where the towering Brigancia lighthouse on the river Hyber indicates a stopover point, but they soon leave again for the seas, and find rest in Scotland. From Scotland, a short sea journey takes them to Ireland where it is believed she died and is buried, the author suggests in SW Ireland, at the end of the Dingle peninsula, at the foot of the Sliabh Mish mountains.
The author includes many original and early sources to back up this extraordinary story. Two Egyptian ships have been found in Hull. A delightful story! Recommended. Review by Wendy Stokes https://wendystokes.co.uk
