The
Gilded Tarot by Ciro Marchetti and Barbara Moore is a 78 card deck with a 64
page white instruction booklet in a front opening cardboard packet. It is
published by Llewellyn Worldwide at £17.99
Two very big names in the world of tarot, Marchetti and
Moore, have combined their extensive skills in this very stylish deck. The
setting is mediaeval; that sexy, candle lit era of wanton young ladies dressed
in long silk gowns, and ravishing knights on chargers, dressed in equally
beautiful brocades. This romantic styling is decorated with animals and birds,
leafy bowers, Romanesque arches and twin pillars. Whilst working with the deck,
the masquerade quality reminded me Cirque de Soleil performance titled ‘Kooza’
seen recently at the Royal Albert Hall.
For those like me, who enjoy detail, the deck is sufficiently well produced to be able to examine the images with a jewellers’ eye glass. The Major Arcana is less loaded with symbolic imagery that the traditional Rider-Waite deck, so I think it would be suited to a more experienced reader than a beginner and I think it I would choose it for a young woman. The booklet, though simple in its explanations, is concise and sufficient for those with a smattering of tarot knowledge. The suits are colour divided into green pentacles, blue swords, orange cups and pink wands and each card in the deck bears an image to assist the interpreter and entertain the seeker. It’s a deck to remember!

Strength, the 8th card of the Major Arcana of the Gilded Tarot by Ciro Marcetti informs you that you have more strength, power and courage that you realise and you must learn to live easily with these gifts and use them when appropriate.
The small leaflet invites us to embark upon a journey as the
beautiful images guide us to explore life and the choices, gifts and challenges
that lie before us. We are requested to ask a question, shuffle and spread the
cards and that our future and our potential will be revealed, then look deeper
and learn about ourselves, our motivations and our dreams. A past, present and future spread is
suggested, along with a five card daily spread and a Celtic Cross Spread. I have chosen a card for you, it is titled 'Judgement' and is illustrated by an angel's golden face blowing a golden trumpet. The angel wears a helmet with wings. The information leaflet reads: You are being called to do something that will change your life, usually for the better. Listen to the call and face it with courage and action. It promises a more fulfilling life.
Barbara Moore has a reputation for teaching beginners and
designing spreads. She is known for Tarot of the Pagan Cats, Pagan Magical
Tarot Kit, The Vampire Tarot of the Eternal Night, Dream Enchantress Tarot,
Enchanted Oracle, Tarot of the Sweet Twilight, Mystic Dreamer Kit, Shadowscapes
Tarot, Steampunk Tarot, The Book of Shadows Tarot and Mystic Faerie Tarot. Ciro
Marchetti is a specialist at digital artwork and computer graphics that reflect
fantasy and imagination. Tarot of Dreams was produced after The Gilded Tarot,
which was his first card deck which has sold in advance of 300,000 worldwide
and has been translated into numerous languages.
