Messages from the Spirits of Nature Oracle

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Messages from the Spirits of Nature Oracle by Dr Steven D Farmer. Art by Scott Breidenthal. Boxed set of 44 cards and guidebook. Published by Hay House

Dedicated to restoring of our relationship to nature, and the knowledge of how we are a necessary part of the intricate web of this planet’s amazing life.

From the box lid: Discover the Magic of Communicating with the Spirits of Nature

The intention of Messages from the Spirits of Nature Oracle is to help us to connect to the beauty, majesty and wisdom of the elements; to help us to understand the messages from plants, rivers, stones and species; and to help us to honour the natural world and appreciate how it can guide and teach us. The deck provides a revival of the ancient shamanic knowledge and is designed to help shift our consciousness towards navigating through the challenges we face, personally and collectively.

“In the midst of the dynamic changes happening on the planet, many are tapping into a deep memory of a relationship with the natural world and becoming increasingly aware of how intimately related we are to all beings in this intricate web of life. Along with this awakening, there is an increasing desire to get reacquainted with a variety of beings with whom we share this world, to hear what they are communicating, and to discover how we can honour them and how they can teach and guide us. This is the purpose of the Messages from the Spirit of Nature Oracle.”

Spirit manifests in the night sky, the wilderness, the wind and rain, in the mountains, in flowers, in caves, in the rainbows, and in all aspects of our precious world. Each of the 44 cards provide an image, a title, subtitle and number. In the accompanying book, there is an interesting explanation of the card meaning and an inspiring personal message of guidance, protection, healing, encouragement, collaboration, and empowerment.

We can learn from indigenous communities that have retained their profoundly respectful relationship with the land. They know that we are intimately related to the natural world and that, by being a better listener, we can gain knowledge from it. Our long-ago ancestors also knew of this wisdom.

Information is supplied on preparing the cards by a small consecration ritual, how to clear and store them, how to give a reading, and there is information on the meaning of cards that are dealt or fall upside down (reversed).

These cards can be used as a one card pull for contemplation or meditation. There are also a Three-Card Landscape, a Three-Card Timeline, a Four-Card Relationship, and a Four-Card The Cross spreads.

Ideal for novices and experienced readers. I like this deck very much and value the academic qualifications of Dr Farmer who has created a powerful and valuable method to easily access nature’s greatest wisdoms.

Sample from Messages from the Spirits Nature Oracle: Number 33 ROSE, love.

Archaeologists have discovered rose fossils dating back 35 million years, making them one of the oldest known flowers. Roses are found mainly in the temperate zones of the northern hemisphere but have made their way into some areas of the southern hemisphere as well. With over 150 species and tens of thousands of hybrids that have been cultivated, they are one of the most popular flowers. Roses appear in accounts for all of the worlds major religions, symbolising miraculous and eternal love. Many people have reported the smell of roses when communicating with angels. In Greek mythology, Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, named the rose in honour of her son Eros by rearranging just one letter of his name. Some traditions associate each rose colour with a different meaning, but one of the strongest associations with this plant is love at its purist and most sacred. Not only the physical presence of a rose but also the Spirit of Rose can soften the heart and let love in and open a portal to let love out.

Message: Pause for a few moments. Close your eyes and imagine you’re holding a fragrant rose. Notice the colour of the rose that appears to you (you can always later discover the symbolism of that colour). Inhale slowly. You can smell the gentle yet powerful fragrance of the flower. Let it be carried throughout your body. Notice any sensations, particularly in your heart area. As you exhale, send that breath out into the world with love. Repeat a few times. Thank the Rose Spirit for its sweet and compassionate gift to the world as a reminder of the importance of giving and receiving love. It’s critical at this time to generously express your love through words and action, to give love away as much, and in as many ways as possible, with no agenda or expectations attached. Do not shy away from doing so, and be aware of how it returns to you in many different ways from a variety of sources. When you experience love coming your way, simply receive and accept it with gratitude. Whenever needed, imagine a beautiful rose with its rich and amazing scent a reminder of the sacredness, purity, and power of love.
