Mind Body & Soul Card Deck Review: Simply Deep Tarot by Chanel Bayless, artwork by James Battersby. Boxed set of 78 Cards and Guidebook. Published by Schiffer Publishing. US $24.99 : UK £19.99
Sample from the book: 14 Temperance - "Keywords: Moderation, Balance, Equilibrium. Upright: Expect to find answers and solutions to life daily puzzles when you are centred properly. It is important to ground yourself when there is energy moving around you. Once you are centred, the elements work productively in your space. This is precisely when chemical transformations happen. Reversed, this is another side of the story that is difficult at this time. Take your emotions on a guided healing journey in order to get back in balance. You cannot solve this problem through any anger or chaos that you have invited into your life."
Here
we read this Tarot deck provides an insightful window into the multiple
layers of beliefs, memories, false ideas, and blocks. Using a guided
meditation, we sit, disconnect to ourselves and imagine connecting to
our chakras before performing a reading. From this preparation
instruction the “simply deep” method originates. We are invited to ask a question, draw a card and consider the colour, symbol, and other
aspects of the card we have drawn. Then, write down any associations and
ideas that come to mind. Draw another card for clarification if
required. A three-card, Past, Present and Future reading can also be used. I would
have liked more textual information on each card.
Both upright and reversed meanings are given in the guidebook. Each card has an image, a traditional RWS title, 3 keywords and a write up of 100 words. The elemental structure of the deck is Coins/Earth, Swords/Air, Wands/Fire and Cups/Water. The Court Cards are Princess, Knight, Queen and King. Good quality card stock. I would suggest this deck for a more experienced Tarot reader.
