THE AVALONIAN ORACLE - Spiritual Wisdom from the Holy Isle by Jhenah Telyndru and Illustrated by Emily Brunner. Boxed set containing cards and guidebook. ISBN: 978-0-7643-5058-0 Published by REDFeather Mind, Body, Spirit. Previously issued in 2010 as Avalon Within - A Sacred Journey of Myth, Mystery and Inner Wisdom
I feel love for this particular branch of spirituality which is shared by Jhenah and the sisterhood that helped produce this enchanting deck.
The well-made case contains 46 cards and 128 page guidebook as a pleasing classic Avalon Aesthetic, with a particular shade of blue that I have long called "Avalon blue" somewhat secretly and this is captured perfectly, with a Celtic knot pattern trim. The "Avalon blue" theme is continued throughout with the "vesica pisces" design from the Chalice Well at Glastonbury on the back of the cards. The cards are divided into 7 card sections that reflect the 7 walkable paths of the labyrinth which is at the base of Glastonbury Tor. Just as the pathways of the Tor undulate and make a cohesive whole, so do the seven sections of these oracle cards.
THE SEVEN CYCLES:
Cycle one: The five seeds of wisdom
Cycle two: The Avalonian cycle of healing
Cycle three: The goddesses of Avalon
Cycle four: The thirteen moons of Avalon
Cycle five: The nine Morgens
Cycle six: The three realms
Cycle seven: The cyclic journey
There is a deep sense of sacred enchantment about the experience. It has a multi dimensional quality by working on several levels - as a divinatory tool, as a teaching guide for the principles of the Avalonian Tradition, as a powerful key to work with the symbolism and also to unlock the inner world of your journey. It also puts you in touch with the "Otherworld".
The artwork has a misty feel to it that adds to the magic. The artist Emily Brunner uses a spellbinding blend of colours and symbols as well as bringing the characters to life.
Jhenah Telyndru is an author, co-founder and Priestess of the Sisterhood of Avalon. She has a passion for teaching. She shares her knowledge and love of Avalon and ancient Welsh history and mythos. She is also a scholar of transpersonal psychology, which she blends and weaves together in this oracle set dance.
Whether you are on a Priestess path or are curious about the Avalonian traditions and Celtic views. this set promises to lead you, step by step to the Holy Isle and beyond.
