Negative thinking can be changed into positive thought. If you are wishing to get even with someone, it is likely you do not love yourself. Those who have hurt us have taught the greatest lessons, and you never have to repeat this lesson again. Forgiveness facilitates self love. Self-righteousness is also not helpful for personal growth and good relationships. Bitterness is painful and hurts accumulate causing a toxic disposition. You are guided to 'step into the sunshine of life'. An exercise in forgiveness is to stand in front of a mirror and think of all the people who have hurt you in the past. Say 'I am willing to forgive' and name a person and what they did to hurt you. Do not judge your feelings, just be aware of how it feels to say it. You can also use some soft music as a background to help you to feel relaxed and peaceful. Remember all the things you are angry about. Write them down and look for patterns and connections. You are counselled to hold positive thoughts and living emotions to those who might have irritated you or hurt you in the past. You must send them loving energy and patience, and great healing will eventually occur. Think of 3 reasons why you are grateful for each family member. For any person who frustrates you, you must think of five reasons to appreciate them! Each person is worthy of love. Send blessings and pray for each person in your family. We are to practice loving kindness in thoughts and deeds, not just today but everyday, as a new spiritual path opens up to us, and we think of neighbours, friends, family, animals across the world and to the environment. We are instructed to be thoughtful and considerate and seek ways to express this today. We could do a good deed anonymously, or something for a stranger, it might be a word of support or a phone call to a lonely person, or a car ride for someone without transport. Kindness becomes a habit when we do it regularly. It is also important to be compassionate to yourself, taking time to relax, meditate or rest.
