The Anubis Oracle

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: The Anubis Oracle - A Journey into the Shamanic Mysteries of Egypt by Nicki Scully and Linda Star Wolf, illustrated by Kris Waldherr, boxed set of 35 cards plus book, published by Bear & Co.

A good quality box with drawer pull to the card set and an extensive guidebook that fully explains how to work with this oracle. The 'neteru' are the archetypal deities, such as Nephthys, Isis, Khnum, Sobek and Horus, Sekhmet, Ma'at, Thoth, Bast, Osiris, Hathor, Set, and others of the well known Egyptian pantheon. Other aspects of Egyptian antiquities are included, the Nile, the Desert, the Crested Ibis, etc., and spiritual composites, such as Sacred Purpose, Higher Love and Wisdom, Right Timing and Direction. Many of the Egyptian symbols are incorporated, papyrus flower, sun and moon, ankh, feathers, etc.

The cards have on their faces: images, a title and subtitle and most have keywords. The book contains further information on selecting cards for a reading for self or others, each card meaning, suggested spreads and  interpretation samples. There is also information on how to pose questions for self readings and reading the cards for others. These are cards for upright readings only, the card backs reflect this by showing the correct way to lay the cards for upright readings (an eye of Horus design and papyrus flower). You will learn about the Egyptian deities and make connections with ancestral wisdom, power animals and the magic of ancient Egypt.

Spreads: Entering the Mystery 3 cards; Sacred Relationship 5 cards; Cosmic Influences 10 cards; Tree of Life 4 cards; Higher Love and Wisdom 6 cards; Right Timing & Direction 12 cards; Sacred Purpose 4 cards; Alchemy 5 cards.

Nicki Scully is an Egyptian specialist and organises tours to sacred places. She is the author of Alchemical Healing, and Power Animal Meditations.
Linda Star Wolf founded Venus Rising Institute for Shamanic Healing Arts and is a workshop facilitator.
To produce the images, the authors gave the illustrator, Kris Waldherr, detailed descriptions of their visions, which Kris combined with her own. Kris Waldherr is a card creator, well known for The Goddess Tarot and others.
