Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot Deck

Mind, Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot Deck by Matt Hughes, published by US Games Systems Inc. 80 cards and instruction booklet in pack.

"A tool for meditation, inner reflection and divination."

Two extra major arcana cards have been added to the traditional tarot deck. These are The Well and The Artist. These two cards reflect the personal journey of Matt Hughes.

The faces of every card carry gold embossing which provides the deck with a very glamorous beauty and this special aspect adds an interesting ingredient to the readings. Each card carries a simple yet beautiful coloured drawing in soft pastel colours presented in a gold frame. The artist is self taught, and the cards have an Art Nouveau/Pre Raphelite and Symbolist energy, similar to The Age of Illustration.

The booklet gives basic information only on each card so the reader will need to be experienced in reading the full potential of the images. I found there was a strength in the images that was not immediately apparent. It is a delightful deck to work with.

I have chosen a sample card - Four of Cups. We see a man sitting comfortably on the ground leaning against an old tree. His eyes are closed. Three cups are in front of him and a fourth is floating on wings in the air. From the booklet: Meditation, resentment, apathy, discontentment.
My reading: Are you tired of the good things in life? What do the three cups represent in your life - family, work, home, health, free time, talents and abilities? Are you always seeking something new and not valuing the benefits that you have already? What more do you long for? Appreciation, gratitude and contentment are your saviour. Give thanks for these and more will materialise!

The other sample is titled ‘The Well’ and shows a woman holding a pendulum, seated on the corner of a well. She is surrounded with swirling energies. There is definitely magic and power in this card. Symbolically, the well is a stock of life giving water, often it is a spring, a place of fresh and constant water to invigorate us. What could this be a symbol for in your life? A person, a place, a hobby, a business, a charity or voluntary group? When you spin your proverbial pendulum, what is revealed about the month of September? Are you bringing in a new energy for this month, perhaps preparing for something new, or consolidating what you have already? Meditate on the sun glinting on the waters of refreshment and use the affirmation: I can draw on resources of vitality and vigour.

Stylish!  Fabulous! Yes, recommended!
