The Philosopher’s Tarot

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review - The Philosopher’s Tarot - An Apprenticeship in Philosophy with SEREPTIE. Published by Repeater Books. Boxed set of 78 cards and instruction book. UK £19.99 : US $24.95 : CAN $27.95 ISBN: 978-1-914420-91-7

Male and females are in equal measure in this deck that is based on the traditional Rider-Waite tarot system, so the deck can be used as a standard tarot or with added philosophical, intellectual and radical thought from the likes of Nietzsche, Simone Weil, Sigmund Freud, Karl Marx, Kierkegaard, Plato, Foucault, Schopenhauer, Hegel, Kafka, Kant, Simone de Beauvoir and others equally well known thinkers, and some less well known. Excited? I am!

The Trumps are major perspectives, the Court Cards also represent some big theories and ideas, and the Minors are still of interest. There is a lot of wit and revolution within the deck that has many surprises. The provided meanings are adequate and one can research more, so one is always learning with this amazing deck. Many cards carry interesting images that add to a regular reading. Expect the Rider-Waite images to be doctored.

I would say this product is for the intellectual who wants more from a reading. I would ask, what do I need to know about my life so I can live it better? How can I be more resourceful? There is sufficient information for a one card reading, or for a three card reading if more is required. The deck is also suggested for use in a group setting - how marvellous! We will all be sages in no time! Philosophy is the study of knowledge, reality and life - and the love of wisdom!

The accompanying book has small print, not ideal for those without 20:20 vision. This is a stunning deck! I have been wanting a deck like this - and here it is! It’s a whole new level of tarot.

First class! Recommended! A novelty! Reviewer - Wendy Stokes https://wendystokes.co.uk

SEREPTIE is described as a mystic, a philosopher, and an experimental musician who lives in the Appalachian mountains. The name implies secrets that are not told because they would not be approved of!
