Mind Body & Soul Ezine Book Review: Dialectical Behavioural Therapy for DID -The Workbook by Johanna Knyn. Published by North Atlantic Books. RRP US $20.95 : Can $27.95 Kindle: £18.99
This excellent workbook includes 4 modules for working with DID - Dissociative Identity Disorder. It’s a designed to be reader-centred, going at your own pace, when you feel ready! Grounding, self acceptance, self awareness of body sensations, emotional reactions and relaxation, balance, alignment, integrity and core values, boundaries, relationships and many other topics are covered.
The author is Brisbane based Johanna Knyn and she is a trained and experienced psychologist and founder of Guided Healing Psychology. She has a private practice that specialises in DID and she seeks, through conferences and her compassion and knowledge, to bring this condition to the awareness of academics and the general public.
Plenty of worksheets to record experiences, thoughts and feelings. There is a questionnaire at the end that helps the reader reflect on the exercises. There is a Glossary of Commonly used Terms to help non professionals understand the language used throughout this easy to read and easy to understand book.
Excellent. I worked through the book though I am a single, ie not a multiple personality (though there is a school of thought that we all have multiple personalities to some degree, though not by this professional.) Can the workbook be used by anyone? I would say yes, with good results. For those with DID, I recommend it as it has been designed specifically for you by a professional who is a specialist in this area of psychological expertise.
