Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Japanese Gods and Spirits Oracle by Makoto Akiyama, illustrated by Fumika Tanaka. Boxed set of 36 gold edged cards and full colour guidebook. Published by Rockpool Publishing. UK: £19.99 Feb 2026
With Buddhist Shinto and Japanese folklore beliefs, we have interesting write-ups and really marvellous artworks. All information on how to read the cards, is provided. Cards have a number, a title, concept and meaning. The introduction explains the energies of the cards, the extraordinary artwork, and the gods, sprites and deities involved. All is explained in the included guidebook, with how to use the cards, how to create interest and insight from the cards using One-Card and Three-Card spreads.
The cards show us an artwork; mostly these will appeal to females, but males can also get a good reading from the images. On each card is a number, a title of the spirit energy, and a subtitle. In the guidebook there is a detailed meaning of 300 words to assist with the reading. The book has a delightful cover image and the power of gold embossed detailing.
Alternative getter, an interesting deck, not only for those of the far east, but also for ancestral wisdom that is available from this oracle deck.
Interesting! Ancestral energies. Far Eastern influence. I enjoyed the orbital style readings!
