Tarot of Dreams

Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Ciro Marchetti's 'Tarot of Dreams' boxed set of 83 cards plus written guidebook by Lee Bursten, published by U S Games Systems Inc. http://www.ciromarchetti.com

These cards are inspired by dreams, but not the type of daydreams or fantasies, hopes or inspirations, but by the dreams we have at night whilst we sleep and are a communication between the unconscious and the conscious mind and lead us to greater personal understanding and understanding of the world's collective unconscious. The cards are designed to inspire us to develop new perspectives, examine our associations and to encourage us to think creatively. Our learning can be limitless.

Ciro has created artwork to imitate dream images. Though he has put his own inspiration and understanding into the cards, it is up to the card reader who holds the key to the unfolding story. Fairy tales, myths, legends, people, places and objects are included, Otherworldly ornate golden designs, naked ladies, wings, masques, shields, headdresses, jewels, you could be in a movie! The cards can be used for personal exploration, development and empowerment, or to to assist others, for divination or for meditation. Each card carries a Kabbalistic and an astrological symbol and card readers are encouraged to experiment and find what works for them as an individual.

The guidebook has an academic explanation for each of the cards and explains how to read them. There is an added card to the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith tarot that this deck is based on. Instead of 78 cards, the new additional card is titled 'Tree of Life'. In addition to this extra card, there are 4 additional cards to add to the court cards. Each suit has a card titled 'Palace of Dreams' and is to be regarded as 'real estate' - a setting where the dream takes place. This creates a deck with 83 cards in all, and every card bears Ciro's initials somewhere on the card face.

I think this is an interesting deck to work with. It has changed the quality of my readings. It stretches my intuitive and concentration skills and brings out a more intensive perceptive ability! When I am performing a reading for a client, I ask myself 'why is this image of a person appearing in their dream?' This has produced a sense of the image having movement, being able to respond to me with a meaningful message. I like the spread suggested 'The Story Spread' of 9 cards which did open up questions.
