Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: Whispers of the Ocean Oracle Cards by Angela Hartfield, published by Blue Angel Publishing, Boxed set of 50 Cards and Guidebook, £17.99
How relevant this topic is! Ideal energies for an oracle deck! Oceans are the life blood of our planet, of the goddess Gaia upon which we all live and have our being. Three quarters of the surface of our planet is composed of water. The oceans produce a quarter of our precious oxygen supplies. We must care for our seas and not pollute them. Save the oceans!
The guidebook provides information about the relevance of our oceans. Water is a symbol for our collective unconscious and helps us to imagine our emotional depths. The oceans are our ancient mother as all life is thought to originate in the seas. Under the oceans are mountains, volcanoes and trenches and a huge number of life forms that are yet to be discovered. When we connect with the wisdom of the ocean, we learn to appreciate and understand the immense importance of water and the beauty and wisdom that lies there.
The booklet provides information on how to prepare the cards to read for yourself and to read for others, how to ask questions, to shuffle and choose. Spreads suggested are the Five-Pointed-Star with five cards, and The Answer with six cards.
Sample reading: 43 Setting Up Parameters. “Access your relationships and determine how they are aligned with your goals. Setting boundaries requires an honest evaluation of your present relationships. Is a current relationship taking away from other areas of your life? Are you getting off track because of demands that are seeping into your personal space? If the primary reason for your connection with another person is no longer of benefit, or if the relationship seems to be in a never ending loop, it is time to make the decision to set some new boundaries.
“If you are being challenged personally, you will need to remain emotionally mature in dealing with any negative energies from others. You need to be clear in your own mind about what your boundaries are. You will to determine what is - and is not - acceptable on an emotional level. You are more than capable of being levelheaded and in control of your emotions. Use your emotional intelligence to make smart decisions. Remember to not let circumstances or whims sway you from your core belief system and morals. This is also a reminder to reinstate boundaries you already have in place. The Clown Triggerfish is so named due to the various spots and colourful markings that appear on the fish. It is almost as if the fish is wearing a clown costume or make up. The Clown Triggerfish is very territorial and protective of its environment. It is fearless and will protect its territory. It does not care if it is much smaller than a threatening predator, it will relentlessly confront its foe!
I very much like this deck! Many of the paintings by Ekaterina Golovanova express the beauty of life in the sea and the text highlights some endangered sea species, and introduces us to get to know and appreciate their majesty and rarity.
