Mind Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: The Wild Goddess Oracle - Divination and Ritual for Living an Empowered Life by Amy Zerner & Monte Farber. Set of Oracle Cards & Guidebook. Published by Voyager Press. US $30. UK £18. Can $39.
These are 52 cards with a guidebook in a high quality presentation box. The card images of the cards in the book are full colour and extra large. Amy Zerner provides the artwork with beautiful paper collages and Monte Farber provides the excellent accompanying book text. It is a follow up to “Goddess Guide Me”. This oracle can be used for self reading or to read for others. It is ideal for self development and described as a “portable temple” and a “spiritual power tool”.
From the book text, prior to patriarchy, we had a peaceful matriarchal culture based on the Goddess. The fight over land and resources of a settled community is thought to have created male dominated cultures. The Introduction explains the history of the Goddess, views of current society, how this deck came into being, how love, guidance, balance and joy can be gained through questioning and personal growth that this oracle promotes. Many women today are depressed, disempowered and stuck in a rut. This loving couple, Amy and Monte, are spreading their awareness of good relationships, communities, and caring for the world at large. The oracle encourages us to express love, cultivate resilience, greet outer shadow, reclaim our power, listen to our intuition, tap into our creativity, free ourselves from past wounds, remove self limiting beliefs, and to heal our pain and shame.
How an oracle provides helpful guidance is explained. It is a small vision quest of sorts, it is a bridge that helps you to speak, it improves decision making, and illuminates areas of your life that you may be unaware of. We are given instructions, to relax, use a provided breathing exercise to help enter a meditative state. A grounding ritual is provided. There are Energy Exercises, information on Candle and Incense Safety. The Wild Goddess Oracle is comprehensive and impressive. It would make an ideal gift set for those setting out on a spiritual life path.
The deck of the Wild Goddess includes card for the Priestess, the Healer, the Lover, the Empath, the Dancer, the Protector, and 46 others. Ask a question, draw a card, meditate, and consider your emotions and be aware of your thoughts and associations. Look up the card in the book where you will have, in addition to the amazing artwork image, a title, a number, a message, an explanation, a spell, a ritual, an invocation, or an affirmation. There are suggestions for a One-Card Reading with sample questions, a Fifty-Two Week Empowerment Process, spreads of 3 cards Mind, Body, and Spirit (with sample reading), 4 cards Past, Present and Future (with sample reading), 4 card Law of Attraction (with sample reading), 9 card The Spiritual Growth (with sample reading), and 10 card Mindful Mandala.
