The William Blake Tarot

Mind, Body & Soul Ezine Card Deck Review: The William Blake Tarot - of the Creative Imagination by Ed Buryn, published by REDFeather, Boxed set of 79 cards and full colour accompanying booklet. Illuminated 3rd Edition RRP £31.99

Time is the mercy of Eternity: without Time’s swiftness which is the swiftest of all things: all we’re eternal torment.

Sample Card: Man of Poetry “To justify the ways of God to Man”. The shedding of protections and pretences. Clearing away darkness to boldly reveal the truth. Applying foresight and generosity of spirit to challenging circumstances. Overcoming your ego to act as a master of spiritual expression. Taking the authority to assert how things will be done. Possessing mature and well tested vision, but a tendency to be rigid. In the creative process - when you see the whole picture of your project, you can take charge to boldly direct it towards achieving its divine potential.

The flip top magnetic closure box is solid and strong. The card stock is excellent quality - and have gold leaf edges. The artwork is excellent by poet, mythologist, and mystical artist, William Blake with incorporated modern ideas by Ed Buryn..

The 23 Trumps represent the Soul’s Journey, Experiencing Fall and Regeneration and Cycles of Eternity. They are retitled: The numerals begin with 00 Eternity, 0 Innocence, II Mystery, III Nature, IV Reason, V Religion, VI Knowledge, VII Experience, VIII Assessment, IX Imagination, X Whirlwind, XI Energy, XII Reversal, XIII Transformation, XV Error, XVI Lightning, XVII Stars, XVIII Moon, XI  Sun, XX Liberty, XXI Union.

The 56 Creative Process Cards are the Minors and Court Cards which also have great individuality. Each has an image, a card title and keyword. The four suits are divided into (water) Painting (The Embodiment of Inner Vision, Giving Form to Spiritual Light, and the Path of Sensation & Spirit), (air) Science (The Challenge of Self-Understanding, Striving to Know Self & the World, Path of Intellect & Learning), (fire) Music (The Celebration of Life Force, Feeling with Heart and Soul, Path of Love & Beauty), and (earth) Poetry (The Expression of Eternal Truth, To Speak from Prophetic Inspiration, Path of Individuality & Revelation. The Court Cards are Angel, Child, Woman and Man.

Suggested Spreads: Two-Card Creativity, Four-Fold Vision, and the 10 Card Celtic Cross.

Each card has an explanatory title and a write up with between 50 and 100 words. Many cards contain words from Blake’s poetry.

“I must Create a System, or be enslav’d by another man’s. I will not Reason or Compare; my Business is to Create.“ Wm Blake

“The William Blake Tarot was created as a visionary collaboration across time and space between William Blake, an 18th century English art genius and Ed Buryn, a 20th century California hippie!” Ed Buryn. Please visit the website: www.blaketarot.com

I enjoyed working with the images and found the write-ups have depth and power.
